Who's Who at the Rescue

Kris Cafaro

Vice President

I was born in New York, but have lived here in Fort Collins since 1999. I've had cats around me ever since I was born, with only a brief time away when living in the dorms at college. We currently have two FCCRSNC alums—Blackberry, an 8-year-old Norwegian Forest Cat and Gryphon, a 2-year-old tabby. They join my husband, two teenage sons, and Debby the dog to make up our family.

I got a Bachelor's degree in American Studies from Muhlenberg College and then a Master's degree in environmental policy & planning from Tufts University. In between that time I worked for a grantmaking foundation in New York City, which focused on environmental non-profit organizations. After moving to Colorado, I was the Director of Stewardship for the Legacy Land Trust (since merged with Colorado Open Lands) and the Important Bird Areas Coordinator for Audubon Colorado. I stepped away to be a stay-at-home mom when our first son was born. I've done extensive volunteering in the boys' schools, have done freelance editing and writing, and have my own Rodan+Fields skincare business. I'm currently pursuing a graduate certificate in Conflict Resolution & Mediation from Colorado State University.

Animals have always been close to my heart, and I am thrilled to be serving on the board of such a special and important organization.
