Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Fort Collins Cat Rescue & Spay/Neuter Clinic! We rely on our wonderful, caring volunteers to help with every aspect of our organization. Whether you are looking for some kitty cuddle time, looking to gain experience for school, or are interested in helping us spread the word about the importance of spay and neuter, we have a volunteer position for you! Read about our current Volunteer Opportunities.
Due to space limitations, We are not able to accept volunteers for court ordered community service at this time.
As part of our application process, we ask for a $30 volunteer fee ($20 for minors) to help cover the costs of your volunteer T-shirt, nametag, handouts, background check (if 18 or older), and our online volunteer information center. We hope it is a small price to pay for the good feeling of knowing that you are helping the animals and people in our community.
Orientation serves as an introduction to our organization, our services and policies, and the different volunteer opportunities that are available. It is a time for you to ask questions, as well, about positions you may be interested in or policies we hold. Due to seating space limitations at our shelter, you must reserve a spot for the orientation ahead of time. Check out our Calendar of Events for upcoming orientation dates.
When you fill out the online volunteer application, you will be contacted with upcoming orientation dates within one week.
If the fee is cost-prohibitive, or you prefer to pay by check or cash, please contact the Volunteer Manager to make alternative arrangements.
All volunteers aged 18 and older must complete a background check. Your $30.00 volunteer fee goes towards the cost, as such volunteers must complete Step 3 in order to advance to volunteering. Volunteers aged 14 - 17 do not have to complete the background check.
During the training, we will go over policies and procdedures for animal handling, reading animal body language, disease control, and more! You will receive your t-shirt and nametag, be given a tour of the clinic and shelter, and finish the training by applying you newly learned skills on the cats and kittens in the adoption room!
You will be matched with a Volunteer Mentor or Staff member who will begin your training for your position. After 1 to 2 position training shifts, you will be able to set your own schedule. (Advance positions require a regular weekly shift.)
Please contact our Volunteer Manager Mandy Lee at Mandy@fccrsnc.org for more information.
