Other Animals in Need

Because we are a no-kill shelter with a limited amount of space, there will be times when we cannot take in other animals unless they are in a life-threatening situation. For owners who are looking to surrender a kitty because of changes in family situation or other reasons, we do maintain a waiting list. Owners on the waiting list may have their kitty's picture and description posted on this page. For prospective adopters - please remember these kitties are not at the shelter and we make no claim as to their health or the status of their medical upkeep. If you are interested in one of these kitties you must contact the owner listed on this page.

Penny is a loving, 4 yr old, female Birman/mix breed who loves humans and cuddling under your chin. She is also content to sit near you and keep you company. She is a curious, playful, independent cat. I am looking to re-home Penny as we have a 10 month old baby and Penny isn't getting enough attention from her humans. She loves humans, and leans into my 10-month old when he reaches out to her. She is a dominant personality and would do best with an experienced cat-owner. Penny plays well with my other cat and mostly ignores my dog. Because she is a dominant cat, her introduction to other pets needs to be managed (she gets along fine with the other pets in our home).

Penny is UTD on shots, spayed, claws intact, indoor only. She got an A+ health check from her vet in May. Penny appreciates being groomed and loved being shaved this spring. The groomer reported that she purred during the grooming/bath and didn't scratch. She is a very good, loving girl and I am sad to re-home her. But she's unhappy that we can't pay more attention to her. Ideally she'll find a new home where she'll get more petting and play time.

Please email me at .

Sophie is the sweetest kitty I've ever owned. She is six years old but barely larger than a kitten. On October 4, 2011 she was attacked by a stray dog. He broke her spine and I didn't think she'd live the 5 minute trip to the vet. She did live. The vet (Lisa Eskridge in Canon City, Colorado) took her X-Ray and discovered her spine was snapped. She had lost mobility in her back legs and tail. She took her X-Ray to a clinic in Colorado Springs and they said, "She needs immediate surgery or to be put down. She'll never walk again if she doesn't have surgery." Sophie did not have surgery, however, she started to try to walk again within a week.

It has been a year and a half since she was attacked. I own her Mother and have had Sophie since she was born. She has fully recovered with the exception of sensitivity in her tail (she has little) and she is slightly incontenent. I keep a diaper on her because when she relaxes she dribbles and sometimes lets a bowel movement out. If she doesn't have the diaper on, she'll use the litter box, amazingly. She jumps, she runs, she plays, she cleans herself - just like any normal kitty. My problem is I cannot care for her any longer. She needs a good vet home or a sanctuary or rescue. She is, as I said, the most loving kitty. As I write, she is on the floor with my Golden Retriever whom she was raised with, licking her face. She has no fear of dogs, I believe, because she literally would not leave the puppy box. She thinks she's a Golden Retriever!

She would be a marvelous, loving kitty, and a fabulous learning tool for any tech. Perhaps she could wear her diaper during the day and live in a cage at night even. I need to find a home for her ASAP as I am unable to find a home for myself right now because of her. I also have some serious illnesses that have made it quite difficult to be as good of care giver as I think she needs. She is fully up to date on her shots, declawed, and spayed.

Please contact Jill Joe at 760-583-6500.

Jacksen is a 7 year old female Black Tortie and a sweet girl! We are very sad to say that we need to find a loving home for her. She is a skittish cat with an adorable personality! Once she gets to know you (which may take a bit) she is very kind and will give her owner unconditional love. Her favorite spot to sleep is on my side, and she passes back and forth on the bathroom counter as I get ready in the morning; back and forth, back and forth, purring incessantly the entire morning! And where ever there is a laptop being used she will find it and insist on sitting in your lap as you type!

We believe that Jacksen would do best in a home where she is the only pet, or at the most one more cat. Ever since we adopted a dog, four years ago, Jacksen hasn't been the same. We've tried very hard over the past four years to make sure that all of our animals get along but Jacksen just isn't happy. She is happy once the dog is asleep and she feels comfortable to roam the house freely, and this is when her lovie nature comes out.

In the midst of her trying to get used to the dog we recently moved to a bigger house. Our house is rarely quiet and it just seems to scare her more now that there is more room to run around. We are hoping that someone will be able to take Jacksen into their home and give her the peace and quiet that she so much deserves. You will not only be giving a loving kitty a new start, but you will also be blessed by her kind heart and quirky personality!

Please send us an email if you are interested in coming over to meet her.

Chaos turned 8 years old this April. She is a white/gray, beautifully marked female cat. She is full of love and almost demands attention. She is a great companion to have around. She is good around other cats (once she gets used to them) but was raised with dogs and adores them. (I think there are days where she thinks she is a dog) She is great around people of all ages, she is a very social cat that loves company. She has mainly been an inside cat but does like to go adventure out in the day time. She has been spayed. Chaos needs a new loving home ASAP. We are preparing for our first baby in 8 weeks. Please email Jennifer at .

CHAMISE is a beautiful, healthy, 9-year-old cat we have had since she was a kitten. Although she is and has always been extremely gentle and timid with us and anyone she spent time around, we cannot keep her because she has been aggressive with our 2-year-old son when she felt threatened. With another baby at home about to start crawling, we are worried something similar could happen.

Chamise is EXTREMELY GENTLE with everyone besides our son. However, she would probably not be a good choice for anyone with very young children (i.e., 5 or younger). She is a wonderful lap cat and would probably be best off in a home with no other pets or perhaps one other cat that is not aggressive. She is litter box trained, has all her current shots and has been spayed. She is an indoor cat only. Please email .

This is Mika (Meeka) she's a 10 year old long haired spayed and microchipped Tortie. Mika is a sweet, lazy, mainly indoor (and after a bit outdoor as well) and sometimes sassy cat (hisses with no biting or scratching of any kind). She's talkative when she hasn't seen you all day and loves attention. She isn't much of a lap cat but will lay right next to you for hours. She'd be a great companion for someone who doesn't have other animals, her previous owners said she was okay around non-agressive dogs (basically ignored them) but I've never had her around any other animals except when a cat wandered in and then she was in protect the house mode.

Unfortunately she has become too much financially for a broke college student, I feed her versus myself and I can't keep starving. She's a great cat and deserves to live the rest of her life in a good home, if you are interested in Mika please email

This is Charlie AKA Chuck. Chuck is one of the many stray/feral cats that I fix and feed and has taken up residence on my porch in protest of being homeless. Chuck is super friendly and ready for the good life of living with a family. He is a big boy who is neutered and had his rabies shot last year when he got fixed. He gets along well with other animals (ok with cats, shy but stands his ground with dogs)and loves to be petted. I wish I could take in this wonderful boy with lots of years and love to give, but have too many animals already.

Chuck will make a wonderful addition to any family or be a great companion for a single person. Please consider this handsome man and give him the home he deserves. Please contact Sabrina for more information or to meet this sweet guy 720-281-5800 or 970-539-3472.

Shadow is a nine-year-old grey female (spayed) cat who also goes by Kit-ten. She is de-clawed in the front and is an indoor cat (though she loves going outside). She currently lives with two dogs and another cat and gets along well with them. Sometimes she even teases the dogs by walking in front of them and then running off as though she wants them to chase her. She is usually shy with new people but warms up to those she sees regularly (and sometimes to strangers that she just connects with immediately). Shadow likes to sleep on her kitty bed, but she also curls up on our laps for love. She loves treats, canned cat food and kitty toys that she can bat at. She likes to drink water out of the faucet or out of a kitty water fountain. We need to re-home Shadow because we have a new baby who is showing signs of being allergic to cats. If you are interested in adopting Shadow, please e-mail Ginger at GingerErickson@yahoo.com.

Paisley is a 7 year old calico sweetie. She is spayed and microchipped and has been an indoor cat her entire life. She is extremely shy at first, but will warm up to her "person" and just wants to cuddle and be loved. She loves sitting in the sunshine and "talking" to the birds outside. She is not declawed, but I have used Softpaws on her since she was a kitten.

Unfortunately, she is not adjusting well to our new baby and we have run out of options with her, so are now looking for someone new to love her and give her a forever home. She is probably better off being the only cat in the home because I don't think she would adjust well to other cats. She was raised with another cat, but is pretty aggressive towards our outdoor barn cats. She is usually ok with quiet dogs. (she will hide from them at first, but eventually doesn't care about the dog being around).

Meet Zelda (grey cat) and Gizmo (has an orange stripe on head... or a mo-hawk as we call it) who are sisters. These are two wonderful cats that we would love to keep but my wife is allergic to them and it seems to be getting worse. They are about 3 years old with all of their shots and are up-to-date on them as well. They are both spayed and are de-clawed in front and back, so they should stay indoors. They both love to sit in window sills and watch the action outside, though when given opportunities to go outside they never seem that interested.

Gizmo is the friendlier of the two and is very playful and loves attention, Zelda is a bit more timid but opens up once she gets to know you. Zelda also likes to sleep in bathroom sinks, see the picture. They both respond fairly well to when you snap your fingers near the ground and will come running to get some petting (Gizmo especially), but only once they get to know you. They are good with children and dogs (with time), but usually not other cats. We would love to give both away but if you can only take one we would be willing to give just one away, though we would prefer to keep them together since they have been together since birth. Please email Dan at danyo9090@gmail.com for more information!

Meet George and Ringo. These guys were both rescued by a wonderful sweet young girl first out on her own. Ringo was found abandoned in North Fort Collins off of a dirt road and George came from a former employer who knew someone who didn't want him anymore. They were raised together and are bonded. They both are neutered and up to date on shots.

George once got out of the house and was gone for a day, Ringo was crushed... he hid in the litter box and wouldn't eat or drink. It is imperative that they stay together as a pair. They are sweet and just need a good home who can afford to properly care for them.

Ringo: Gray & White - Loves back scratches and curling up in your lap on the couch. He is a bit shy but is willing to be pet once he's checked you out.

George: Orange & White - Loves children (does EXTREMELY well with them), belly scratches, cuddling and just overall being an outgoing, playful and energetic kitty.

If you are interested in giving George and Ringo a good home, please contact Alyssa at a.g.baker611@gmail.com or call the cat rescue at 484-8516.

Gigi is a very very loving kitty and loves attention. She is great with families but not so much when it comes to other cats. My grandma passed away and since then she just hasn't quite gotten the loving she needs.

She's about 7 years old and spayed. We would love to keep her but we have enough pets as it is. If you are interested in giving Gigi a good home, please contact Kay at pk_keya@live.com.

Jasper is a two-year-old, neutered and microchipped short-hair male. He is fantastic and gentle with young children (both with our own two kids and visitors), all-around extremely sociable, hilarious, and very loving. He enjoys high places, affection and playtime, as well as napping in front of open windows and doors, on folded blankets or your newspaper. He is an energetic participant in a game of fetch or just general toy-chasing.

He has too much energy, personality and independence for other feline companions, and we don't know how he'd react to dogs since he has never been exposed to them. He has also been an exclusively indoor cat.

Jasper needs a new home because he spends most of his time bullying our other, much shyer cat, and all of our efforts at behavior modification to have two peacefully coexisting cats have remained entirely fruitless.

If you're looking for an involved, charming, "personal assistant" cat, please call Michael or Katharine at (970) 498-0195.

This is Taylor. She is 12 years old and should be in a home with a single person or an older couple. She is an indoor cat but loves the sun rays and fresh air. Taylor lives in Loveland with 3 other male cats who she doesn't get along with. She needs a good home. Please call for more info at 720-273-3318 or FCCR at 970-484-8516.

Due to health issues we are no longer able to keep our precious cat, Patch. We are very sad to have to give him up and are looking for a good home for him where he can live out the rest of his life. He is a 9 year old neutered male. He is an indoor cat and is very well litter trained. He is very playful and likes to be with his people. If you have a place for him in your home, please call us at (970) 669-6833! Contact Becky at 970-669-6833 or FCCR at 970-484-8516.

I'm looking for a new home for my loving kitty.

This is Towelie - she is almost 9 years old, I got her in October 2003 when she was about 2 months old. She's a good cat, kind of talkative but if you just give her some attention and open a window, she is fine. She loves to sit on a window sill and catch a breeze and watch outside.

Long-haired orange tabby; female. Spayed. She was adopted from the Larimer Humane Society.

Towelie is free to a good home and she would be a great companion for someone who is home a lot and needs company. She loves to snuggle and would gladly crawl up on your lap and watch a movie with you.

She is a fantastic cat and I love her to death - I'd like to find her a good home before this summer when I move out of state and can't have her anymore.

If you are interested, please call or text 970-412-6925
